On the family vineyard, we work toward regenerative farming techniques and minimal intervention in the cellar. We seek connection with the land. While grape growing and winemaking is a scientific process – living exclusively by the numbers can create distance between a wine that speaks to a sense of place. Balanced wines must come from balanced environments. We only source from vineyards who farm with heart.

My professional life started as a storyteller – in print journalism – and while the format has drastically changed, I find that wine is very much about story. Where we are in a particular place in time and the people who are part of our lives.

I left journalism to study winemaking, seeking to tell my own family story through our labor. I also want to tell the story of our land, which so often fails to include the history of our original environmental stewards – the Indigenous communities who created these incredible ecosystems that make the bounty of the Willamette Valley possible.

My parents retired to the Valley in 2007, with my father looking to plant vines and name the vineyard after our ancestor Johnson Blackfeather. It’s a small project, and my husband and I both work full time jobs outside of our label to make this dream a reality.
